The Music of the Pearl

In the pearl the last line symbolizes the end of there misery, the end of there greed against each other and other people, the danger and the bad music. Its the end of all of Juana's and Kino's suffering from always worrying about when the next bad thing will happen. The pearl was a great power that can change a person, but very unstable and can turn against the holder, or it can bring them there dreams. It all depends on what you believe it can do. You can be mean and make it do evil things but you could also give to other people and have it do great things. It brought a great lesson to there family by showing them that they are happy the way they are and when they brought something with great power people changed and to my the weren't really a family cause family would reason with each other and Kino didn't with Juana, when she wanted to throw the pearl back so there anger and trouble would be gone.

  1. Really enjoyed reading your interpretation of the music of the pearl. I could see you understood what the motif or music of the pearl was as well as that you understood the symbolism of the pearl good job! You Met Standard because I got the main idea of what you were trying to get at but it could use a little detail in certain areas. For example on question 4 I didn't see the connection between the symbolism of the pearl and it's effects on the society. Be sure in the future to include something that has to do with connecting one thing with another. I liked the line: It brought a great lesson to there family by showing them they are happy the way they are and when they brought something of such great power people changed and to my the weren't really a family cause family would reason with each other and Kino didn't with Juana,..." I could see when I read this what the major or important point of the story was good descriptions there! Overall I was impressed with how well you did when responding to the questions and could see you got the general picture of what symbolism has to do with the pearl. Way to go!
